The Czech Republic, located in central Europe, is a country rich in history, culture, and natural beauty.

Known for its charming cities, medieval castles, and picturesque landscapes and of course the beer.

The Czech Republic was once part of Czechoslovakia, but the two countries amicably separated in 1993. 

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT CZECHIA

Late May, June, September, and Early October are the ideal times for traveling around the country due to ideal climate and less tourists. (July and August children in Czechia have summer holidays).
 
Spring (March to Early May)
  • Blooming flowers and moderate temperatures.
  • Great for visiting castles and beautiful gardens.
Summer (July and August)
  • Not recommended due to overcrowded tourist spots, especially in Prague.
Autumn (Late October to November)
  • Stunning foliage and serene countryside.
  • Harvest season with local wine festivals and fresh, seasonal produce.
Winter (December to February)
  • Christmas (Mid-December): Experience festive markets, lights, traditional foods, and handcrafted gifts.
  • Skiing (Late January and February): Enjoy skiing, ice skating, and cozying up in cafes.

THE LANGUAGE AND CURRENCY

Language: Czech
  • English is widely spoken in Prague and main tourist areas; less so in smaller towns and countryside.
  • Many locals also know German or Russian.
  • In case you need a help in English try to approach the younger generation
Currency: Czech Koruna (CZK)
  • Symbol: Kč
  • Always have some cash as not all establishments accept credit/debit cards.
  • Banknotes: 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000, and 5000 CZK.
  • Coins: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 CZK.
  • Be cautious of scams when exchanging money.
  • Tipping: Appreciated but not mandatory. Typically, round up the bill or leave around 10%.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The Czech Republic has pretty extensive and efficient public transportation network, making it easy for residents and visitors alike to travel within cities and across the country. This network includes a mix of buses, trams, trains, and metro services that ensure comprehensive coverage and convenience.

Of course the best way to explore t he country would be to rent a car. It will allow you to travel faster, be flexible and explore the real country side.

  • High-speed and regional services connect most towns and cities.
  • Recommended routes: Prague to Brno and Prague to Vienna.
Buses
  • Key players: RegioJet and FlixBus.
  • Reliable and affordable services domestically and internationally.
  • Both providers offer high-quality service and competitive prices.
